How to find the best SAT tutor on the Mainline

What should you look for when choosing a test prep instructor?

1. Education – Choose an instructor who has achieved in school! Advanced degrees, academic success and attendance at prestigious universities are all good indicators that your tutor is qualified and has, in fact, performed well on standardized tests. Ask to see degrees and/or evidence that the instructor has, in fact, attended the schools, and received the degrees, they claim.

2. Training as a Teacher – Choose an instructor who is a certified, trained teacher. This will lead to greater teaching efficiency and better results more quickly.

3. Experience – Choose an instructor who has a documented background in test prep. Ask about specific training and pedagogy.

4. Personality – Meet, and talk with, your instructor before you make any decisions! Be sure your tutor has the right personality and temperament to help your child achieve success.

5. Beware Big Business – Test prep is big business. Make sure your instructor is invested in, cares about, and prioritizes the success of your child.
