Should juniors take the October SAT?

There is no hard and fast rule as to when a student “should” take an SAT. Unless you are a senior in your waning days of senior-hood, time is on your side. The October SAT is a nice SAT to take because you can get a copy of the test, plus your answer sheet, returned to you. But overall, SATs should fit into a student’s schedule. Look at junior year overall and choose a test during a less busy time. Does your junior have a major fall sports commitment? Well, then the October SAT may not be ideal, especially if you’re planning on doing prep work prior to the test. Maybe January is a good time. Or, if your junior loves to spend winter on the ski slopes, think about the March SAT. Since the SAT is offered 7 times each year, make sure the test fits into your junior’s schedule.
